1. What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance, which is present in all connective tissues of the human body. It is in high levels in the skin, ligaments, and joint fluid. It is available in the diet from red meat and various vegetable sources.

2. Why do I need to supplement my hyaluronic acid intake?
Hyaluronic acid is produced by the human body in high levels during our growing phases of life. After we reach maturity, this production decreases and normal diets do not contain high enough levels to enable the body to replace the HA that is lost during normal metabolism.

3. What will using HA do for me?
HA is absorbed in the intestine and moves through the body and targets every connective tissue. It most importantly moves into the joint fluid restoring its normal viscosity and lubricating properties. HA may also be of benefit in helping the skin remain more flexible, spinal discs remaining more viscous and other connective tissues to show benefits, but these areas have not been clinically proven.

4. What does HA do for my joints?
HA helps to help improve joint movement and cushioning. If we compare the joints of the human body to an automobile engine, the joint fluid in the body mimics the oil in an engine. At regular intervals we replace the oil in our car engines because the heat and friction breakdown the oil's viscosity. The oil becomes thinner and less able to protect the metal surfaces from excessive wear. HA acts the same way in our joints. As we age the viscosity of the joint fluid breaks down and becomes thin and is unable to cushion the joint cartilage. This leads to increased friction and wear on the cartilage surfaces of the joints. Renu-U and Nu-Joint both help to restore the normal thicker viscosity of joint fluid and restore the cushioning and lubricating properties of normal joint fluid.

5. Which product is best for me?
You need to be able to assess your joint problems.

If you have injured a joint previously or are elderly and you need to regrow the cartilage as well as restore the fluid viscosity, gluosamine and chondroitin which have been clinically shown to regrow joint cartilage. Hyaluronic acid helps the glucosamine and chondroitin to work better. If you do not need to regrow joint cartilage at this time, HA will help to restore the normal joint fluid viscosity and help the joints to move and function better.

6. What if I don't have joint problems?
If you are currently not experiencing joint problems then our products may benefit you in the long run. Just as we change the oil in our car to help prevent problems, taking HA may help to limit the amount of joint damage due to aging or daily abuse by maintaining proper joint fluid viscosity. There have been no studies to date of the preventative effects of hyaluronic acid.

7. Are these products safe?
Current available information indicates that our hyaluronic acid products are as safe as taking vitamin C. Using the recommended daily doses provided on our labels should create no problems. We have found that even people who tried taking other glucosamine and chondroitin products and reported intestinal problems tolerate our products very well without any side-effects. Since hyaluronic acid occurs in the body naturally, there is little concern for the supplementation in the small effective amounts in our products.

8. Should I take more of your products to get better results?
Our recommended dosages are sufficient for the average person to gain the desired benefits. Since all people are different, in both weight and metabolism, occasionally an increased dosage may be needed.

9. How long do I need to take HA?
The standard answer to this question is as long as you want the effects to last. Just like vitamins, your body processes hyaluronic acid and expels it. It requires a constantly renewed source to continue the benefits. We have taken this factor into account when we designed these products.

HA requires an initial two-month period when the body starts to rebuild cartilage and restore the viscosity of the joint fluid. After two months, most people find that they can reduce the dosage to half and maintain their benefits.

Reducing the amount of HA may also reduce the benefits.

10. Should I give these products to my children?
Most children do not require supplementation of hyaluronic acid. The human produces hyaluronic acid in sufficient amounts for normal function and joint growth. It is only as adults that we see a decrease in the amount of hyaluronic acid in our joints and connective tissues.

11. What if I already take a glucosamine and chondroitin supplement?
Then you can chose to add HA to further enhance your supplements' performance.

12. Do I need to take these supplements with food?
HA is easily tolerated with or without food. It is recommended that when taking more than one capsule per day of HA the dosage be spread out through the day, one in the morning and one at night. This gives your body a better chance to absorb more of this supplement.
