Why do we even mention the word “cure” in the same
sentence with “a chronic condition”?
Our use of the word cure is substantiated by several
references. We use the word cure to mean the partial or
complete relief of symptoms.
Obviously, nothing in the title or content of this book
is intended to suggest that the use of the recommended
supplements will fully eradicate osteoarthritis. The
evidence, carefully collected in this book, substantiates
that the nutritional supplements recommended are
frequently effective, even for long periods. Even so, we
offer no guarantee that every individual will benefit from
this program. The laboratory analysis referred to in
Chapter 4 was conducted by the University of Maryland at
Baltimore. We chose this lab based on their unique
familiarity with these compounds and their fine reputation
as both an industry and federal research laboratory.
The university and its staff have no interest in the
profit of this book; their only role is that of an independent
research laboratory.

To protect their privacy, pseudonyms have been used
for the individual patients mentioned in this book, and in
some instances biographical details about them have been
altered.
The authors of this book have no financial interest in
any companies that produce, market, sell, or distribute
glucosamine or chondroitin sulfate. The book was written
strictly on the merits of the two supplements.
